Lesson 3: Building the Right Environment for Math Learning

Learning Styles and Family/Student Guide

Every child learns differently. Understanding individual preferences supports faster, more enjoyable, and more confident math growth. This curriculum offers guidance for adapting lessons to meet each child’s needs, using the VARK model and social/individual grouping preferences.

  • Try activities using all styles: seeing, hearing, reading/writing, and doing.
  • Use solo, partner, small group, class, or family formats.
  • Celebrate what each child enjoys most, while helping build skills in all formats.
  • There is no single “right” way to learn—explore, enjoy, and celebrate the journey!
