We rise by lifting others. At the summit, Esther and Joshua showed us that collaboration and community aren’t just ideals—they are the engines of real progress. The following stories reveal how individuals, students, and small businesses are transforming challenges into opportunities by working together, proving that collective effort multiplies success in ways no one can achieve alone.

Story 1: Small Business Collaboration Drives Mutual Growth

Small-business owners across the country are increasingly prioritizing collaboration as a proven growth strategy. As highlighted by America’s SBDC and The Business Journals, entrepreneurs are forming partnerships to share resources, expand networks, and solve business problems together. By working with other small businesses, owners are able to diversify their audiences, save money and time, and fuel innovation. For example, through alliances with other local companies, small businesses have tackled sustainability challenges, improved their product offerings, and even bid for larger contracts—achievements that would have been out of reach alone. Research confirms that business owners now see collaborative partnerships as a top driver for growth, with cultural fit and shared goals as critical ingredients for lasting success.

Story 2: Students and Local Businesses Tackle Big Problems—Together

At Penn State Lehigh Valley, the Common Intellectual Experience (CIE) program brings students and local business partners together to address real-world challenges, such as sustainability. Students from diverse majors team up with small business owners to brainstorm, research, and implement solutions that benefit both the businesses and the community. This semester, student teams helped local companies like EBC Printing & Signs adopt eco-friendly materials and obtain green certifications, while also gaining hands-on experience and expanding their own professional networks. The partnerships forged through CIE have proven mutually beneficial, enabling students to apply classroom knowledge to practical problems and helping businesses access fresh perspectives and new talent. As participants describe, these collaborations not only solve “wicked problems” but also create a sense of belonging and shared purpose that extends well beyond the classroom.

Key Insights

  • Collaboration Over Competition: Sharing knowledge and resources multiplies innovation and resilience.
  • Support Networks: Strong communities provide accountability, motivation, and a foundation for growth.
  • Giving Back: Investing in others leads to sustainable personal and organizational success.

Take Action: Join or Volunteer
Volunteer your time, skills, or expertise—or join a collaborative group in your community. Community-driven efforts spark lasting, positive change.

Leadership isn’t defined by position—it’s measured by daily actions that uplift and empower others. At the summit, Shayla highlighted EMPREP, Inc.’s 3 E’s model—Encourage, Educate, Equip—which serves as the foundation for building growth within teams and communities. This framework reminds us that great leaders are architects of positive change, nurturing both individuals and organizations through intentional action.

The following stories from 2026 illustrate how the 3 E’s model, when put into practice, can transform lives and create lasting impact in diverse settings.

Story 1: Equipping Youth Leaders for Lasting Impact

At the Salvation Army’s EQUIP 2026 event in Charlotte, youth leaders, volunteers, and officers gathered with a single mission: to encourage, strengthen, and equip the next generation of leaders. Speakers challenged participants not just to run programs, but to build authentic relationships and invest deeply in young people’s lives. By fostering community, sharing practical tools, and offering ongoing encouragement, the event demonstrated how the 3 E’s can transform both leaders and those they serve. Attendees left with renewed energy, new skills, and a sense of belonging to something bigger—proof that equipping and encouraging others creates ripples of impact that extend far beyond the event itself.

Story 2: Emotional Intelligence and Human-Centered Leadership in 2026

As highlighted by SIY Global and Situational Leadership, the best leaders in 2026 are those who balance accountability with empathy, and knowledge with emotional intelligence. Faced with leaner organizations and increased pressure, leaders are being asked to do more with less—while also keeping teams engaged and resilient.

Trends show that today’s leaders must encourage their teams through recognition and support, educate by modeling continuous learning, and equip others by providing the tools, autonomy, and emotional steadiness required to thrive. Leadership development is shifting to focus on psychological safety, transparent communication (especially around the use of AI), and collaborative learning environments. By living out the 3 E’s, leaders help their teams navigate uncertainty, foster trust, and build cultures where everyone can grow and contribute.

Key Insights

  • Encouragement: Recognizing effort and progress inspires ongoing action and motivation, especially during challenging times.
  • Education: Commitment to continuous learning and emotional intelligence is essential for adaptability and long-term success.
  • Equipping: Supplying practical tools, autonomy, and emotional support enables lasting results and sustainable growth.

Take Action: Mentor or Share a Resource
This week, reach out to mentor someone or share a helpful resource—community and organizational growth starts with small steps by individuals like you.

How can technology bring us closer to our customers—and to each other? That was the question Satchit and Jada posed at the summit as they delved into the real-world potential of artificial intelligence. Far from being cold or impersonal, AI is already helping businesses create authentic, individualized experiences. The following stories and statistics highlight how AI, when applied thoughtfully, can strengthen human connection, drive sustainable growth, and deliver measurable impact.

Story 1: Human-Centered Clienteling in Retail—AI as the Invisible Assistant

In 2026, luxury, fashion, and lifestyle brands are redefining the customer journey by using AI not to replace employees, but to empower them. As Bryan Amaral explains, AI-powered clienteling platforms act as “invisible assistants” behind the scenes, surfacing real-time insights on client preferences, needs, and past purchases. This enables associates to focus on genuine, high-value interactions rather than memorizing data or searching databases.

For example, when a client visits a store or connects with support, the AI synthesizes their recent activity and highlights what matters most—turning every touchpoint into a relevant, memorable experience. Mature clienteling programs are now delivering first-year returns of 180–300%, with payback often within twelve months. Personalization at this level has driven incremental revenue lifts of 10–15%, and engagement rates for clienteling-driven communications are 2–3 times higher than generic messaging. The result: more loyal customers, higher repeat purchases, and stronger relationships that automation alone cannot achieve.

Key Insights:

  • AI is most effective when it augments—not replaces—human connection.
  • High-touch brands win by turning data into relevance and relationships, not just transactions.

Story 2: Breaking Communication Silos in Complex Customer Care

Complex service organizations, such as Newcastle Greater Mutual Group (NGMG), are using omnichannel AI platforms to overcome traditional barriers in customer support. According to Genesys, NGMG implemented AI-powered solutions that provide agents with real-time customer history, needs, and sentiment analysis. When a customer transitions from self-service to a live agent, the AI instantly summarizes previous interactions, ensuring the customer never has to repeat themselves.

These innovations have led to a 50% improvement in first-contact resolution rates and significant reductions in hold and handle times. By automating administrative tasks, AI frees up agents to focus on empathy, problem-solving, and building trust—key ingredients for customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Key Insights:

  • Seamless handoffs powered by AI remove friction and frustration.
  • AI-driven support enables human agents to deliver true empathy and tailored solutions.

Personalization by the Numbers

  • 73% of customers expect companies to understand their unique needs and expectations.
  • Companies excelling at personalization generate 40% more revenue from those activities than average competitors.
  • Automated, personalized communications see 2–3x higher engagement and conversion rates than generic campaigns.
  • AI-enabled clienteling can deliver first-year ROI of 180–300%, with payback in under a year.

Take Action: Bring AI-Powered Personalization to Your Organization

Test-drive an AI tool that empowers your team to deliver more personal, memorable experiences—whether in retail, customer service, or beyond. Let technology do the heavy lifting, so your people can focus on what matters most.

Investing in yourself is more than a motivational slogan—it’s quickly becoming a necessity in today’s rapidly changing workplace. At the summit, Rithika challenged us to look beyond titles and credentials and see the value in the skills, experiences, and relationships we already have. The following real-world stories and trends show how this mindset is transforming lives and careers, especially in the age of AI and shifting job markets.

Story 1: The Rise of “Skillspotting”—Unlocking Hidden Talent Within

“Skillspotting” is an emerging workplace trend that focuses on identifying employees’ existing, often hidden abilities and transferable talents. As AI rapidly transforms job descriptions and blurs the boundaries between roles, companies are starting to look beyond degrees and resumes. Instead, they’re asking: What can this person actually do?

Tigran Sloyan, CEO of CodeSignal, describes skillspotting as moving past rigid job descriptions to see a workforce as fluid and full of potential. Employees today are often developing new skills outside the requirements of their jobs—a salesperson might build an AI agent to streamline work, while an engineer could develop an interest in accessibility design. This approach fosters internal mobility and allows people to move based on their skill portfolios rather than linear promotions, helping them find new purpose and growth at work.

Key Insight:
Your skills and learning agility may be more valuable than your job title or degree. Companies are increasingly recognizing—and rewarding—this flexibility and initiative.

Story 2: Fulfilling Career Changes After 30—It’s Never Too Late

Changing careers after 30 can feel daunting, but real people are proving it’s both possible and rewarding. In a series of stories shared on Upworthy and Reddit, mid-career adults described how switching fields brought unexpected fulfillment, even if it meant starting from scratch.

One former emergency medicine worker became a utility lineman at 35, describing the shock of starting at the bottom, but also the liberation and satisfaction of learning something new. Another person moved from a chef’s life to project management and then to systems engineering, finding joy in learning and new challenges despite initial doubts. Others have shifted from software engineering to airline piloting or cybersecurity, discovering renewed hope, adventure, and improved mental health.

Even when a pay cut or “starting over” is required, these stories remind us that our strongest skills—time management, problem-solving, communication—are transferable. And the journey itself can be rejuvenating.

Key Insight:
It’s never too late to reinvent yourself. The skills and resilience you’ve built in one field can open doors in another, often in surprising ways.

Source: Upworthy, Ryan Reed, “People who switched careers after 30 share why the change was ‘unexpectedly fulfilling’” (2025)

Key Insights

  • Lifelong learning and adaptability open new doors—even in unexpected fields.
  • Skills-based approaches and internal mobility are transforming how people grow at work.
  • Personal reinvention is possible at any age; your experience is an asset, not a barrier.

Take Action: Practice Lifelong Growth
Identify one skill you want to develop and one relationship to strengthen. Take one small step this week—enroll in a course, talk to a mentor, or volunteer for a new project. Consistent, small actions can lead to extraordinary change.

Raising empowered children and setting them up for success is a collective effort. Impact Team members Gabrielle and Annika shared actionable guidance for parents and caregivers, emphasizing the importance of passing empowerment on to the next generation.

Summit Highlights & Actionable Takeaways

Empowering Parents & Kids
Support for mothers and families creates a ripple effect, building confidence and resilience in children. Dr. Ann Masten’s research on resilience shows that nurturing relationships are the single most powerful factor in a child’s long-term success (Masten, 2014).

Financial Foundations
It’s never too early to teach children about money. From savings accounts to Roth IRAs, consistent actions today create financial security tomorrow. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reports that financial habits are set as early as age 7 (CFPB, 2015).

Take Action: Empower Through Financial Habits
Connect with resources that support your child’s journey. Start a money conversation at home or set up a small savings account. Choose one financial “micro-habit” to practice together and schedule a family finance night this month. Time and consistency are more important than the amount saved.

Explore our Empowerment University for Children for step-by-step checklists and workshops that build confidence and lifelong habits.

No one succeeds alone. At the summit, Impact Team members Esther and Joshua highlighted how relationships, networks, and teamwork are the true engines of growth.

Summit Highlights & Actionable Takeaways

Networking: Your Network Is Your Net Worth
Professional relationships open doors to opportunities, ideas, and support. Research by Dr. Ronald Burt at the University of Chicago shows that diverse networks help individuals access information and career advancement (Burt, 2005).

Collaboration Fuels Innovation and Resilience
Teams that collaborate outperform those who work in isolation. Google’s Project Aristotle found that psychological safety and collaboration are key to high-performing teams (Duhigg, 2016).

Take Action: Expand Your Network
This week, reach out to someone new or reconnect with a former contact. Attend an event and introduce yourself to two people, follow up with someone you admire, or join a group that nurtures your growth. Authentic relationships and collaboration are the engines for opportunity, innovation, and resilience.

Your brand is more than a logo—it’s an experience. At the summit, Impact Team members Raffi, Satchit, and Jada explored how psychology, technology, and ethics collectively shape modern branding.

Summit Highlights & Actionable Takeaways

Design for Success
Colors, layouts, and even scents influence how people perceive your brand. Research by Dr. Satyendra Singh indicates that color alone accounts for up to 90% of first impressions about a product (Singh, 2006).

AI as a Bridge
AI isn’t just for automation—it enables businesses to personalize onboarding and client experiences at scale. According to McKinsey & Company, companies that leverage advanced personalization see up to 40% higher revenue (McKinsey, 2021).

Ethical Branding
Trust is your brand’s most valuable currency. In an age of information overload, transparency, accountability, and value alignment are essential. Edelman’s Trust Barometer reveals that 81% of consumers must trust a brand before making a purchase (Edelman, 2022).

Take Action: Audit Your Brand
Does your brand reflect your values and build trust at every touchpoint? Use color and environment to create positive impressions, leverage technology to personalize authentically, and commit to transparency, accountability, and value alignment in all messaging.

Leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about the impact you make and the legacy you leave behind. At the summit, Impact Team member Shayla challenged us to view leadership as a daily practice that shapes our communities and the world.

Summit Highlights & Actionable Takeaways

The 3 E’s Model: Encourage, Educate, Equip
Great leaders do more than direct—they inspire, share knowledge, and provide the tools and autonomy necessary for growth. This model echoes the work of John C. Maxwell, who emphasizes empowering others as the foundation of leadership (Maxwell, 2011).

Integrity and Emotional Intelligence
Leadership is earned through daily actions. Dr. Daniel Goleman’s research on emotional intelligence demonstrates that leaders who embody honesty, resilience, and empathy foster stronger trust and higher team performance (Goleman, 1998).

Sustainable Leadership
Leaders influence not just people, but also systems and habits. By modeling choices that reduce our collective carbon footprint—such as adopting energy-efficient practices or promoting recycling—leaders drive real change. The World Economic Forum highlights sustainability as a core leadership competency in the 21st century (WEF, 2020).

Take Action: Model Sustainable Leadership
Reflect on your leadership footprint: What example are you setting in your daily actions, and how might you model both ethical leadership and sustainability for others? Begin with small, practical steps such as reducing waste, recycling, or supporting sustainable practices in your community. These choices set the tone for teams and future generations.

Elevate Your Life & Legacy – Summit Insights from EMPREP, Inc., Part 1: The Power of Investing in Yourself

What if a single decision today could transform your entire future?  This was the compelling opening challenge from Jacqulyn Wilson, CEO and founder of EMPREP, Inc., at the Your Future by Design Summit—a day devoted to actionable insights and personal empowerment. The Impact Team’s message resonated throughout: your most valuable investment is yourself.

Summit Highlights & Actionable Takeaways

Invest in Yourself
Warren Buffett, one of the world’s most successful investors, famously declared, “The best investment you can make is in yourself.” At the summit, Impact Team member Rithika further expanded on this idea—emphasizing that skills, experiences, and relationships are assets that appreciate over a lifetime. Research published in the Harvard Business Review confirms that people who continually invest in learning, networking, and self-development experience greater career satisfaction and earning power.

Compound Growth Through Action
Success rarely comes from grand gestures, but from small, consistent steps. Each new skill, meaningful conversation, or professional course compounds over time. James Clear, author of “Atomic Habits,” notes that “Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.”

The Value of Time
Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Samuelson defined opportunity cost as “the value of the next best alternative forgone.” The summit urged attendees to consciously invest their time in activities that build human capital, as time—not money—is our most precious resource.

Take Action: Make a Micro-Investment
Commit to one micro-investment in yourself this week—read an article, practice a new skill, or reach out to a mentor. Small steps compound, and the impact multiplies over time. As Jacqulyn Wilson emphasized, investing in yourself not only transforms your journey but also inspires those who are watching.
