Your Story Is the Key to Belonging: How Embracing Your Journey Connects, Heals, and Inspires Others
At Get Heard, we know that the most powerful books aren’t just written—they’re lived. Your journey, every step and stumble, is the key to writing a book that connects people to what they truly need to hear. Recently, we shared a video post featuring Author Angela Wiafe, who offered five keys to embracing belonging. Her wisdom is worth sharing, but what makes her journey—and yours—so vital is how she moved from simply experiencing her story to using it to empower others. Here are Angela’s Five Keys, and why your personal journey matters just as much.
The Five Keys to Embracing Belonging
- Know Whose You Are: As a child, I struggled to feel like I belonged due to mistreatment. But as an adult, discovering 1 Corinthians 3:23 helped me realize that I have always belonged to Christ. Remember, you are never truly alone—you belong to Him.
- Connect with Others: If you’ve ever felt out of place, reach out and connect. My journey inspired me to write “Affirmed,” a book that invites you to discover a community where no one is left feeling like they don’t belong.
- Affirm Yourself Daily: I make it a habit to look in the mirror and remind myself that I am loved. I stopped letting others define love for me and embraced God’s definition of love. This is a key practice I share in my book.
- Anchor Yourself in Scripture: Psalm 25:16 (Passion Translation) says, “Sorrow fills my heart as I feel helpless, mistreated. I’m all alone and in misery. Come closer to me now, for I need your mercy.” This verse brought comfort when I needed it most, reminding me that God understands our pain.
- Build from Rejection: I remind myself that I do not belong to darkness, and neither do you. People’s rejection does not define you or diminish who God made you to be. Instead, be empowered knowing you are loved as you are, and use rejection as a foundation for growth.
Angela’s story is a reminder: your author journey is about more than what you experience—it’s about what you share. Move your story from the personal to the powerful, and let your book become a bridge for others to belong, heal, and hope. If you’d like to explore these keys further and join a supportive community, we invite you to connect with us and discover “Affirmed” by Angela Wiafe.
