EMPREP, Inc.’s Empowerment University for Children Sees Success with Its Read with Me Program
Like many concerned citizens, we at EMPREP, Inc. were shocked to learn that nearly 60% of third-graders across Tennessee failed their ELA assessments. This alarming statistic is a wake-up call, but it is not the end of the story. We believe it is a challenge that we can overcome. Our conviction is based on the significant results we’ve seen from our company’s Empowerment University for Children program and from piloting our Read with Me initiative.
While EMPREP, Inc. is currently based in Tennessee, our program’s reach has already extended beyond state lines. This past year, a dedicated teacher in Mississippi partnered with us to test Read with Me in her classroom. Her situation was dire: she had fourth-graders reading at a kindergarten level. Motivated by her students’ needs, she implemented our program and even suggested an additional feature to support her advanced learners better. The outcome? Dramatic improvements and consistent success!
One particularly inspiring story comes from her work with students with special needs. Without initially telling us, she began using Read with Me with these students. The progress was remarkable: one student who previously struggled to participate in a typical classroom environment can now spend 90% of their time with their peers. The teacher shared her experience, saying, “I truly love the program, and the students enjoy it as well. There has been very little complaining because the packet is engaging and includes content that supports all learning styles. When you added the WebQuest component, it really increased engagement for all learners.”
Though Read with Me was designed for struggling readers in Pre-K through fourth grade, the program’s appeal has proven broader. Other students asked to join, seeking further enrichment. At the teacher’s request, we added advanced components, such as the WebQuest, enabling high-performing students to participate, reinforce their skills, and reach even greater heights.
We believe that with the right support, Tennessee’s children and children across the U.S. and beyond can not only meet but also exceed their reading goals. As a professional development company, EMPREP, Inc., recognizes that reading is the foundation for all future academic success. Our children need our help, and we are eager to be part of the solution.
Together, we can raise next year’s ELA scores, help Tennessee’s third graders achieve advanced status, and set a new standard for literacy across the state and beyond. Let’s join forces and give our children the tools they need to succeed—now and for years to come.
