What to Expect

Our bible study lessons are designed to be interactive.  Depending on the group level, it combines a biblical story, activity, discussion questions, stories in the news, and/or challenges. When we initially started, the lessons only encompassed children at a certain age level. As those children matured, the lessons grew with them and special requests were made.

Special Requests

As you can imagine, Bible Study class with children brought with it many surprises. One night, one child boldly declared, “I do feel more empowered!” affirming the teaching methodology. While a different child declared, “We are going to need you beyond high school, Ms. Jacqui, and our parents need [this] too.” It prompted the development of age-based, transitional, and parental support lessons. Now, our goal is to teach from one scripture set per lesson and deliver it in a manner that the whole family can benefit.

How to Use the Lessons | Best Practices

Whether you are the parent, parental figure, leader, or teacher, bible study starts with you. Before you teach, take some time to read the article written for you and gain greater insight and encouragement. Afterward, choose the group lesson based on the age of the children you are leading in the study. You are welcome to combine any aspects based on your children’s maturity levels, and we encourage you to share how you taught it via our social media sites. If you have young adults who are assisting you, we encourage them to take some time to read the lessons designed for their age group. Our #1 best practice rule for lesson time is that everyone participates. So even if there is a child who is not a great reader or has special needs, we assist them in participating, even if they only read one bible verse. Being a part of the teaching/sharing of the lesson with peers builds confidence and develops compassion and patience. Also, they have an opportunity to lend their perspective. Children want to be heard, and it is important that we hear them.

Lesson Groups

The bible study lesson for each age group has been developed based on standard maturity rates for children within the stated age range. We recognize that children have different maturity levels, learning styles, and capabilities; thus, we encourage you to determine what is the best fit for the children you are teaching.  Again, we encourage you to not only combine elements to best meet their needs but also share your teaching tips via social media, so other teaching leads can benefit. For those who are interested in teaching or contributing to the bible study lessons, please contact us.

Eva C. Smith

The BLC is named in honor of  Eva Crusoe Smith, the grandmother of CEO and Founder Jacqulyn “Jacqui” Wilson. Mrs. Smith was born on December 28, 1928 to Elijah and  Rachel (Barry) Crusoe.  An exceptional student and a secular and Christian education powerhouse, she broke beyond multiple barriers to join the Mississippi educational system. She taught in the  school system for over fifty years, changing countless children’s lives. Jacqui recounts her grandmother stating that she started teaching when they still had little red schoolhouses.  She served in a plethora of Christian education positions within the church including Youth Director, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, District Christian Ed teacher, and National Christian Ed Teacher. Her love for children and their spiritual and educational well-being echoed through the lives of her family, community, and on a national level. She knew their capabilities often far exceeded what people believed children could do. Before she died at the age of 92 in 2022,  she was honored with numerous awards for her dedication.
