Why Coaching?
Do you want your child to have confidence, learn how to cope, improve self-esteem, and navigate challenges effectively? Do you want to foster a growth mindset, empower them to make positive choices, help them have a greater sense of purpose, and show them what they can potentially do? If you said yes to any aspect of these questions, coaching is a great path for your child.
What Is Coaching?
While psychology helps you understand your past and mentoring provides wisdom based on experience, coaching enables you to focus on how to move forward by developing strategies that propel you into the future. Our approach is to use your experiences to make you stronger.
Why Biblical-based Coaching?
What you believe affects how you approach life. Founder Jacqulyn Wilson wants every child to know that they start from greatness and will end with greatness, if they choose. The bible lays out the foundation for this and provides the principles we need to operate in wisdom concerning our lives. However, this is not a sugar-coated version of the truth. We acknowledge the pain, provide guidance, and expect that a person will take action to improve with a combination of what they have learned and guidance.
Creating the Coaching Arm
Coaching naturally emerged as children attended CCE’s bible study classes. Children came to learn about the word of God, and slowly ventured to asking for guidance on their specific life situations. Ms. Jacqui, as the children called our founder, would ask them one question before she answered questions. “Do you want the sugar-coated version or the real version?” The children always chose the “real version” demonstrating their ability to examine what they were provided to make an appropriate decision. She saw confidence grow, the children’s ability to apply what they learned across multiple areas of life, and them provide guidance to peers.
Eva C. Smith
Our founder credits her grandmother, the center’s namesake, for being a pivotal guide for her during one of the most turbulent times in her youth. Her grandmother’s guidance/coaching made a difference in her continuing to choose a productive life when life became extremely hard.
Mrs. Smith was born on December 28, 1928, to Elijah and Rachel (Barry) Crusoe and later married Henry Lee Smith. A secular and Christian education powerhouse, she broke beyond multiple barriers to join the Mississippi educational system. She taught in the school system for over fifty years, positively impacting the lives of countless children. Jacqulyn recounts her grandmother stating that she started teaching when they still had little red schoolhouses.
Beyond the school, she served in a variety of Christian education positions within the church, including Youth Director, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, District Christian Education teacher, and National Christian Education teacher. Her love for children and their spiritual and educational well-being echoed through the lives of her family, community, and on a national level. She knew that children’s capabilities often far exceeded what people believed they could do, and she worked with them to bring out their best. Before her death at the age of 92 in 2022, she was honored with numerous awards for her dedication, including receiving a key to the city.

What to Expect
You have the ability to access coaching modules about specific areas of interest. For example, if a child has a question about purpose, they can enroll in the module that speaks about purpose. As they follow the module, they are encouraged to utilize the worksheets that are provided alongside the module to engage in the full experience. They should expect a warm welcome, an acknowledgement of obstacles and goals, an explanation, and an action plan. If we don’t have a coaching module you desire, request it. If they desire to speak to someone one-on-one, you can make this request too. If they are threatening to harm themselves, please call 911 or seek immediate emergency services. All student information is kept confidential on this site, unless required to disclose by law. Parents are welcome to join the BCC Facebook Group to receive support from other parents.
